You are my Friend

You are my friend
A very special friend
And no one will ever know
How much I adore
And cherish you
A few know it is more
Than most friendships
And a few others
May suspect as much
I guess I'm not
The best actor around
But neither are you
And I'm so glad

You are my friend
Never change for me
Change only for yourself
You will forever be my friend
So be who you want to be

You are my friend
My very dear friend
The way you put up with me
Those Blues days I sat quietly so
Unable to face all the stone walls
You simply said,
"If I knew what to say
At a time like this I would say it
But I am lost for words
Though I sense your pain and anguish
Should I touch you?
Soothe your woes?"
I replied,
"Just sit here and hold me,
Don't utter a word,
Secure my soul
And love me."
You forgot everything else
And held me
As I knew you would
You may not be
The most perfect around
But neither am I
And I'm so glad

You are my friend
Never change for me
Change only for yourself
You will forever be my friend
So be who you want to be

You are my friend
A very special friend
And I'm so glad
