Never Let Go

My head is pounding
I can hardly breathe
When I want you
Like I do right now
I need your arms
Squeezing around me
Refusing to let go
Never let go
My bed is so empty
Without your contented sighs
I cling to your pillow
To protect me from the pain
I loved you so much
And though it's warm tonight
I'm frostbitten in this bed
I can never let go
I've read your letters
More times than I can count
Polished apologies, pretty remorse
Such prose soothes the scars
But distant words cannot take
The place of your touch
If you could touch me now
And never let go...
